Our work begins on day three — long before most programmes consider a puppy ready for anything at all.

From that point until placement at six months, an Elite Developed Puppy is shaped continuously by the people who bred it. Those months cannot be recovered later. What is built into a dog in that window stays built in.

The dog sets the pace

We do not run puppies to a calendar.

Every dog moves to the next stage when it is ready, and not before. Some are ready early. Others need considerably longer, and are given it. Pushing a young Dobermann into work it is not prepared for produces conflict, and conflict at this age can take a year to undo — if it can be undone at all.

This is the single most important thing to understand about how we work. We will tell you plainly where your puppy is, and if it needed more time, we will say so.

From day three

Neurological foundation

We follow the Puppy Culture protocol from the first days of life.

Early Neurological Stimulation — brief, controlled handling that measurably improves stress tolerance and cardiovascular resilience
Early Scent Introduction
Novel surfaces, sounds and objects, introduced daily
Startle and recovery work — the puppy learns that surprises are survivable
Handling, restraint and body tolerance from the first week

This is the work nobody sees and everybody benefits from. A puppy that has learned to recover from small stresses becomes a dog that recovers from large ones.

Foundation

Before a dog can be trained, it must learn how to learn.

Marker and reward conditioning
Engagement and voluntary attention on the handler
Drive development — food and toy — channelled and controlled
Early impulse control: waiting, settling, releasing on cue
Crate confidence and calm restraint

Home obedience

A working dog that cannot live in a house is not a family dog. Taught in a real home, not only on a training field.

House training and clean crate habits
Settling on place while the household moves around
Door manners, and calm greeting of visitors
Behaviour around food preparation and family meals
Tolerance of household noise and disruption

Obedience

Formal obedience, to a standard we are comfortable demonstrating in public.

Heel, on lead and progressing off lead
Sit, down and stand
Stay — duration, then distance, then distraction, in that order
Recall under increasing distraction
Sustained handler focus

We train with a balanced methodology: clear reward for correct behaviour, fair and consistent correction where the dog understands the exercise and chooses otherwise. A sensitive dog and a hard dog are not handled the same way.

Socialisation

Exposure is putting a puppy somewhere. Socialisation is managing what it learns while it is there.

Structured introductions to adults, children and the elderly
Stable, balanced adult dogs — never uncontrolled dog parks
Handling by strangers, including veterinary contexts
Neutrality: most people and dogs are simply not the dog's concern

We work carefully around the recognised fear periods. During those windows we consolidate rather than push.

We are not producing a dog that loves everyone. We are producing a dog that is neutral — confident, unbothered, reserving its attention for its family. Neutrality is the foundation of a sound protection dog.

Environmental conditioning

A dog is only as reliable as the range of places it has proven itself.

Varied surfaces, heights, stairs, enclosed and echoing spaces
Traffic, machinery and sudden noise — introduced at distance, closed gradually
Urban environments, crowds, low light
Travelling calmly, loading and unloading under control

Every exposure is introduced below the puppy's threshold. We are not testing the dog. We are proving to the dog that the world is manageable.

Protection foundation

Not bite work as most people picture it. This is the careful building of the drives, confidence and clarity that genuine protection training later requires.

Clean outs and control on equipment
A clear line between working and neutral

Started only when the individual dog is ready. Foundation determines ceiling: a dog with a poor foundation can be trained to perform, but it will never be truly reliable under pressure.

At six months

A confident, well-mannered young Dobermann with genuine obedience, broad environmental exposure, and a sound foundation for protection work.

It will not be a finished dog. An Elite Developed Puppy is developed, not fully trained. Adolescence is still ahead, and a young dog will test what it has been taught — that is normal and temporary.

What we build must be maintained. We are direct about this because the owners who understand it are the ones whose dogs go on to be exceptional.

Delivery and handover

Your dog is not couriered. We deliver personally and hand over in your home — every command and how it was taught, how the dog has been rewarded and corrected, its individual temperament, and your plan for the months ahead.

We remain available afterwards. A dog we bred and developed carries our name for its whole life.
